Proud Patriots is apparently beyond trying to do only that. They appear to have negative connotations - and won't address the issue in an upfront manner. Very sad to hear for the guys and gals serving now. I know most all of us want the best for our service folks. At least, that's my personal goal.

From talking with the folks who run PP...here's what I've been able to learn:

The CPers keep saying ProudPatriots.org has to file a 990. They don't. They are not a 501c(3) -- and even if they WERE a 501c(3) they would have to either A: take in over $5000 a year or B: pay salaries to their officers/employees (not sure which) in order to be required to file that paper. PP has filed to become one, but it's not approved. Now they do admit they DID screw up the charter (I think that's what it's called) renewal, but the state of VA says that happens all the time and is no big deal. All the paperwork is being updated and PP is just waiting for the state of VA to finish their end at this point. As it is, ProudPatriots.org is a not-for-profit corporation -- They do NOT tell people they get a tax deduction for donating to them. They never have. People who donate to PP do so out of the goodness of their hearts at this point.


This place and people associated with it have sent me care packages in Iraq and Korea and they know nothing more about me than I'm in the military and my screen name on the internets.

If memory serves they have sent packages to Dutch Knight and his soldiers over in Iraq.

Go to the post office and check people...it's not cheap to send stuff to Iraq...or Afghaistan and a lot of the expense is coming out of their own pockets.

Now I'm not trying to do an infomercial for this place. Don't think that for a minute.

I'm just tired of seeing people that call themselves conservatives trash an organization that...out of the goodness of their own hearts...is running a grass roots "Support The Troops" organization that has been good to me and my family.

And I'm REALLY pissed that they have gone as far as to contact the command of a fellow active duty service member in a blatant and shamless attempt to get him in UCMJ trouble to try and shut him up.

This is the kind of crap that the DUmmies pull...like when the DUmp went after VetWife...not conservatives...who claim to support the troops.

I completely don't have the slightest fucking clue what's going on here.

Basically Adam one of our junior members who was a FReeper decided to go after a grass roots organization started by some other FReepers to send care packages to the soldiers.

They have made viscious attacks on them on wannabe sites like ClownPossee...who's only claim to fame prior to this was posting p0rn pics in the FR Canteen...and at LipertyPost...which is the land of banned FReepers where they do nothing but bitch and whine about those who haven't been banned. Imagine an entire website of B/W and you get the idea.

Anyway CP has gone so far as to contact the command of an active duty sailor who's active in Proud Patriots.org trying to get him in trouble as a way to shut him up.

I refuse to go over to CP and wade into those rat fucks over this...but since one of the biggest pot stirrers in this issue also happens to be a member here...I'm gonna handle this one on my turf.

And DBR's sidekick on this and wannabe apologist is our own Laughing at Loons.

I am not going to let an organization that has helped two of our members (myself and Dutch Knight) attack another one of our members (twinklebart) and others without saying something about it.

Especially when one of the troop bashers is one of our members.
